Roller door repairs

Roller door repairs, residential and light commercial

Roller door repairs need someone who works on them daily. The curtain, the drum, the barrel spring and the guides are all specific to this door type, and we are on them every day from the bridge to the Brynderwyns.

What goes wrong on a roller door

The curtain has come out of the guides

Usually after the door has been hit, or run when something was in the way. The curtain needs re-seating and the guides checking for damage, and forcing it makes the damage worse.

The door is heavy or will not stay up

The spring inside the barrel has lost tension or broken. Like a sectional door spring, this is under load and is not a DIY repair.

The motor runs but the door does not move

Typically the drive coupling, the drum or the manual override has been left disengaged. It is often a quick fix once someone has eyes on it.

Grinding or scraping in the guides

Grit, corrosion or a guide knocked out of alignment. Left alone it wears the edge of the curtain, which is the expensive part.

The door has stopped part way

Limits out of adjustment, an obstruction, or a fault in the opener. We diagnose it on site rather than guessing.

Doors we work on

  • Residential roller doors, any brand
  • Light commercial COLORSTEEL® and Zincalume roller doors
  • Farm shed and workshop doors
  • Doors we did not install, which is most of them
  • Breakdowns where the business is stopped, prioritised the same day where we can

When repair stops making sense

A curtain that is corroded through, badly deformed along its length, or a door so old that no parts remain available is usually past economic repair. We will tell you when that point has been reached rather than selling you a repair that will not last, and a new roller door is one of the more affordable doors to fit.

Why work with us

Made in Auckland

The sectional and roller doors we fit are manufactured at Windsor's Auckland facility. Building them here is what keeps the wait between quote and installation short.

Installed in about two weeks

Expect about two weeks from accepting the quotation to installation day. Specialist architectural doors and powder coated finishes take a little longer.

Same day on urgent repairs

If your door has failed and the car is stuck inside, we aim to be with you the same day, and we will tell you straight away if we cannot.

10 year COLORSTEEL warranty

Our best-selling range is locally manufactured NZ COLORSTEEL, with a 10 year warranty against defects. Standard non-COLORSTEEL doors carry 2 years.

Local knowledge

Locally owned, serving Warkworth, Mangawhai and Silverdale. We know which products last in North Auckland conditions.

40 years trade qualified

Our team gets it right the first time, which is why the Google reviews read the way they do.

Free, no-obligation quotes

Common questions

Please do not try. The curtain is under spring tension from the barrel above, and forcing it back into the guides almost always bends the edge of the curtain. That turns a straightforward repair into a curtain replacement, which is most of the cost of a new door. Leave the door where it is, do not run the motor, and call us. Getting it re-seated properly takes us far less time than fixing a bent curtain.
